A message from Richard Thank you everyone who voted for me at the recent election where I was re-elected as Councillor. Although I was unsuccessful in the position of Deputy Mayor, my vote increased very significantly from 2014 when I was first elected. Hopefully that indicates that I have been doing a good job.
All councillors were re-elected – which is very unusual occurrence but maybe indicates that the community is generally happy with our performance. I’m really looking forward to another 4 years and will always welcome community input – I may not always agree with you but I will listen. Feel free to email me or call on 0418825001. ![]() Richard Ireland was elected to the West Tamar Council in October 2014 and re-elected in 2018. An award-winning local businessman and a resident of Launceston and the West Tamar for some thirty years, Richard brings a rich perspective and skill set to the task of strategic planning and development in the West Tamar.
During his time in council Richard has dedicated his time across many areas including Audit and Finance, Seniors Advisory, Christmas with Friends, Suicide Awareness and many community groups. These ideas are a continuation of his determined outlook to see the West Tamar region flourish. Richard has a strong commitment to the advancement of business and community initiatives and support for the individuals and groups driving them. It is this commitment and vast experience which has encouraged Richard to continue his role within the West Tamar Council. Richard will seek to build strength in both the community and local business sector, through infrastructure, governance and effective budget management. He looks forward to continuing to talk to local residents and stakeholders and working with the management team and officers at West Tamar Council. |
